Kitchen Sink Materials

Stainless Steel

Granite Composite / Quartz Composite

Fireclay

Heavy, extremely durable, porcelain-enameled surface. Resists scratching, staining, and chipping. Available in dozens of colors. KOHLER has made cast iron sinks for over 100 years.

Kitchen Sink Mount Types

• Undermount — Mounted below the counter. Clean look, easy countertop-to-sink sweeping. Requires solid countertop (stone, quartz, solid surface). The most popular choice for kitchen renovations.
• Drop-in / Top-mount — Drops into a cutout, rim sits on counter. Works with any countertop including laminate. Easiest DIY installation.
• Farmhouse / Apron-front — Front panel of the sink is exposed. Statement piece. Requires a compatible base cabinet (front panel is cut away). Available in fireclay, stainless, and cast iron.

Kitchen Sink Configurations

• Single bowl — One large basin. Best for washing large pots and baking sheets. The trend is toward larger single bowls (30-33").
• Double bowl (equal) — Two equal-size basins. Traditional, good for wash-and-rinse workflow.
• Double bowl (60/40 or 70/30) — One large + one small basin. The large side handles pots; the small side works for prep or drying.

• Vessel — Bowl sits on top of the counter. Dramatic, spa-like aesthetic.
• Pedestal — Standalone sink on a pedestal base. Classic look for powder rooms. No storage underneath.
• Wall-mount — Mounted to the wall with no vanity. ADA-compliant, saves floor space.
